Gerardo Rodríguez

Gerardo has been dedicated to antitrust and competition matters since the beginning of his career. He acted as counsel at Galicia for 3 years and was promoted to partner in 2025.

His expertise emulates through his wide range of contributions, as he was counsel in investigations involving mergers, joint ventures, price fixing, bid rigging, resale price maintenance, tying and other horizontal and vertical restraints, taking part in most investigation procedures carried out by the Mexican competition watchdogs and coordinating international investigations.

Gerardo also focuses his practice on all aspects of the merger review process, including pre-acquisition counselling, complex mergers, and multi-jurisdictional clearance.

He has extensive experience across a wide range of industries, demonstrating that he is a leader within his practice. This includes food and beverage, retail, real estate, construction, chemicals, entertainment, sports, financial services, railroad, transportation services, telecommunications, broadcasting, as well as other regulated sectors.

Gerardo praises the richness of the multicultural diversity in his hometown (Chiapas) but is aware of the urgency to equalize the opportunities in that region. He collaborates with local nonprofit organizations and has provided legal advice to communities in the southeast of Mexico on obtaining broadcasting concessions for indigenous social use.

Gerardo earned his J.D. from Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas and obtained his LL.M. from Indiana University. After law school, Gerardo worked for the Mexican Federal Competition Commission and the Federal Trade Commission in D.C. (appointed pursuant under the U.S. Safe Web Act of 2006).

He has been recognized as a leading Competition/Antitrust lawyer by various renowned international legal publications such as The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners Latin American Guide.
