backIgnacio is a distinguished corporate lawyer who is never content to remain on the sidelines. As co-leader of Galicia’s Mergers and Acquisitions practice, he primarily advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, real estate and general corporate matters.
For more than 20 years, Ignacio has worked closely with private equity and venture capital funds, as well as companies, advising them on institutionalization processes, capital raising and corporate financing.
Ignacio’s commercial mindset and genuine interest in his clients’ businesses have led him to serve as an active member of the boards of directors of both public and private companies, as well as non-profit organizations.
Reflecting his intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial outlook, Ignacio completed the Senior Management Program at IPADE and earned an LL.M. from New York University. He was also admitted to practice law in the State of New York, a license which he subsequently relinquished.
Ignacio is the only Mexican member of the International Bar Association’s Mergers and Acquisitions Committee. In his capacity as Special Projects Officer for the IBA, he regularly participates in international forums focused on mergers and acquisitions and private equity.
He is consistently recognized as a leading lawyer by several international legal directories. Chambers Latin America Guide and Chambers Global Guide rank him as a leading practitioner in Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity. The Legal 500 Latin America Guide also recognizes him as a leading lawyer in Mexico in these practice areas. Leaders League ranks him as a leading expert in Mergers & Acquisitions, while IFLR1000 and Latin Lawyer recognize him as a market leader in high-value cross-border transactions within the Mexican legal market.
Ignacio also maintains a strong connection with academia and regularly serves as a guest lecturer on the Executive MBA program at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City and the Galicia Chair at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Panamericana. He is committed to the professional development of the Firm’s next generation of lawyers and is a frequent speaker in Galicia’s internal professional development programs.
