Juan Carlos frequently advises and represents telecommunications, financial and pharmaceutical companies. In addition, he frequently works with the Energy team on competition issues associated with the electricity and hydrocarbons markets as well as with the Administrative Litigation team in amparo proceedings where competition matters are addressed. In addition, he offers specialized compliance and integrity advice to clients.
Juan Carlos actively participates in academia and competition advocacy issues. He has several publications in competition and regulatory matters, and he also participates in several forums of attorney bars and associations.
He graduated with honors from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and has an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School through a Fulbright-García Robles Scholarship.
Before joining the Firm, Juan Carlos was a special legal advisor to the former Mexican competition authority and worked at other prestigious law firms in Mexico. In addition, he worked as a foreign associate in the competition group at Uría Menéndez Abogados in the Madrid and Brussels offices.
He is considered an expert and leading lawyer by recognized international publication, such as Chambers Latin American Guide, in the Competition practice. The Legal 500 Latin American Guide identifies him as an expert in the Competition and Compliance practices. He is a member of the team recognized as “Elite” by the specialized publication, Global Competition Review (GCR100).
