Decree increasing import tariffs

On April 22, 2024, the “Decree amending the Tariff of the General Import and Export Duties Law” (here in after referred to as the “Decree”) was published in the evening edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation, whereby the general import tax is increased to rates between 5% and 50% for the importation of various goods classified under 544 different tariff codes, including steel, aluminum, textiles, footwear, wood, plastic, chemicals, paper, ceramics, glass, electrical materials, transportation equipment, musical instruments, furniture, among others.
